Jan Brett’s lovable bunny hero, Hoppi, and her remarkable Easter Rabbit will enchant readers as they pore over illustrations filled with dazzling eggs made by Flora Bunny, Aunt Sassyfrass and others.
If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit with his deliveries on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robin’s egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he declares the empty blue eggshell the very best one to reward Hoppi for his kindness.
Spring is everywhere in gorgeous illustrations framed with pussy willows, flowering vines and flowers. Side borders feature busy rabbits making their unusual eggs and, in a border above, the Robin’s family drama unfolds.
A gatefold surprise reveals the Easter Rabbit.

Lovely story with a nice message
I was looking for a Easter-themed story that did not have any religious references to put in a child’s Easter basket. I took a chance on this book based on the other positive reviews as well as the fact that my children love some of Jan Brett’s other books. This story was exactly what I was looking for and I am so glad I ordered it. The message of helping others, kindness, and selflessness is expressed beautifully in both the words and pictures. We will enjoy reading this each Easter season.

    A favorite
This is a favorite Easter story in our family. This is actually our second copy; our original copy was a board book but I decided I wanted a full sized copy because Jan Brett’s illustrations are so beautiful. She is an amazing artist and has published many beautiful books, but in this one she truly goes above and beyond. My kids love looking at the “other” story that’s going on in the margins of the book, and her details are just fantastic. We also love the moral of the story: that helping another, even at the cost of what you may want, is beautiful and worth celebrating.

The Easter Egg by Jan Brett
I LOVE any books by Jan Brett and was lucky enough to meet her. Her books are always engaging and the illustrations are colorful and gorgeous. You should always check out the illustrations because they are full of details.

Lovely Easter Book – enjoyed by all ages
Got this for my 1.5yo’s Easter Basket. Her and the 3yo and 5yo all adore this book. I love the illustrations (as with all Jan Brett’s books)- after a couple readings just observe the pictures extra closely, esp the robins at the top. Each rabbit creates easter eggs differently (with paint, wood, metal, used as flower pots, etc), but Hoppi’s egg is most special bc he cared for the Robin’s egg until it hatched out. He wasn’t able to create one like he originally hoped, but did something far more meaningful. Great story, durable book- will he enjoyed for years!

Sweet Easter Story and amazing illustration
I read this to my children during Easter time and it is a sweet story but the illustration is what steals the show here. So intricate! We will be pulling this out every Easter to come.

Cute story with one random fold out page!
I love the story, illustrations are beautiful and the story is sweet. For some reasons one page is a fold out page unlike the rest of the pages.. so ransome, not sure if it was on purpose or a random defect?!

In Inglese.

    Beautiful book, cute tale

I love the illustrations! The book is good quality, will definitely live through a kids’ vandalism.
