Easy Setup, Great for Travel, Keeps My Malinois Safe!
This PetSafe Stay & Play Compact Wireless Pet Fence has been a game-changer for us! The setup was incredibly simple and fast – I was honestly surprised how quickly we had it up and running. Even more impressive was how easily my Malinois learned the boundaries. It took very little training, and the warning beep is usually enough to keep him from crossing the line. He respects the system, and I have peace of mind knowing he’s safe. One of the biggest reasons I love this system is its portability. We travel a lot, and it’s so convenient to bring the Stay & Play with us. I just adjust the radius to fit the new space, and we’re good to go. It’s much better than trying to find a boarding kennel or worrying about him escaping in unfamiliar surroundings. And speaking of convenient, the rechargeable collar is fantastic! We’ve had this system for 3 years now, and a single charge still lasts for almost two months. It’s incredibly reliable and saves us from constantly having to replace batteries. The only minor issue I encountered was related to power outages. The unit doesn’t have a built-in battery backup, and when the power goes out, it triggers the collar as if the dog is out of range, resulting in a correction shock. To solve this, I purchased a UPS battery backup, which has completely solved the problem. It’s a small additional expense, but well worth it for the peace of mind.Overall, I highly recommend the PetSafe Stay & Play Compact Wireless Pet Fence. It’s easy to set up, portable, effective, and has kept my Malinois safe and contained. The incredibly long-lasting rechargeable collar is another huge plus. Just be sure to consider the power outage issue and invest in a UPS battery backup.

Works great
After we found 2 puppies that were dumped out by our house in the country, we realized we were going to need something to keep them in our large yard and not chasing deer or any other wildlife that came into our property. We bought two of these collars and they have worked great. Very easy to set up and good quality. Safety-wise for our dogs, it has been perfect with no issues.

Worth the money
We’ve had this for a year and a half with 0 issues. At one point, we had 3 dogs on it (with extra collars) successfully. The batteries last about a month, charging is quick, and the collars stand up to dirt and water. I’m really pleased with how well it’s held up. It was very easy to train our dog on it because he had previously been trained to a regular shock collar – now he runs back inside the barrier as soon as he hears the beeps. Definitely recommend.

Mixed Experience
Pros:- Convenient solution for pet containment- Easy setup and installation- Effective in most situationsCons:- Unreliable performance with sudden malfunctions- Lack of warning signs or alarms when system fails- Concerns about safety features and effectivenessReview:I recently purchased the PetSafe Stay & Play Compact Wireless Dog Fence with high hopes of providing a safe and convenient solution for containing my dogs. Initially, I was impressed with the ease of setup and the overall effectiveness of the system. It offered a convenient way to give my dogs freedom while ensuring they stayed within the designated boundaries. However, my experience took a turn when the system suddenly stopped working without warning. Despite multiple attempts to power cycle the unit, the display remained blank, leaving me puzzled and concerned. This unexpected malfunction not only disrupted the system’s functionality but also raised doubts about its reliability and safety. One particularly alarming incident occurred when I inadvertently received a shock from one of the collars while attempting to troubleshoot the system. This raised concerns about how long my poor dog may have been subjected to unnecessary discomfort due to the malfunction. While the concept of the PetSafe Stay & Play Compact Wireless Dog Fence is promising, the execution fell short in terms of reliability and safety. The lack of warning signs or alarms when the system fails is a significant drawback that undermines its effectiveness. In conclusion, while the PetSafe Stay & Play Compact Wireless Dog Fence offers convenience and ease of use, its reliability and safety features leave much to be desired. I would advise potential buyers to proceed with caution and explore alternative options until these issues are addressed by the manufacturer.

This is my second unit. My first one quit working after a few years. Unfortunately, this replacement unit only lasted about four months and then quit working. Good news, I called the company and explained what was happening and they sent me out a new unit right away. Cannot say enough good about the Pet Safe Company. So I say yes, go ahead and purchase this product. They work great and the company stands behind their product. Very happy.

I’ve been using this product for over 2 months, and I trust it more than a physical barrier.Application:We have 2 dogs, one older, tougher, more passive dog and a younger, higher energy german shepherd. The younger one would take off and there’s nothing we could do to stop her. She ripped tethers out of walls and tore the clip out of her harness. With a physical fence, she found a way over, under, or through. With the petsafe, she breeched once willfully, and after that, nothing. I leave them out most of the day, without any problems. I have 2 emitters set up, one inside and one outside in a weatherproof insulated box, overlapping in two areas.Pros:The collars rechargable batteries last very well, and neither dog has seemed to figure out that’s what’s causing their discomfort. The training manual is fairly simple and easy to read, and you should follow it to the letter, however it works better for simple yards than a more complicated one, in the simple yard the flags stand out and the training is easier, with other distractions they basically ignore the flags, and kind of figure it out as they go.It’s easy to adjust the size, with 2 people at least.Cons:The price. We spent almost $1000, and although it is considerably cheaper than a regular fence, it’s still a lot of money, if you think about it. The perception of security isn’t as strong for other people (even though the dogs will absolutely not cross it), as a regular fence, but other people don’t know that.Metal definitely messes with the signal, even away from the emitter, a metal shed set off the collars even though it should have been within the boundary, which isn’t a big deal really, but good to know.Overall I’m happy with it, and if I want to expand the area its relatively easy. If anything changes in a year time I’ll update this review.

I have a 16 lb King Charles spaniel. He was fully trained on this in a week. I was afraid to use this kind of a system because I was afraid it would hurt him but really wanted him to be able to run free in the yard. Started at level 1 setting on the collar, but he didn’t notice or respond until level 5. He ended up testing the boundaries a few times but quickly learned them and so far hasn’t tried to cross them again – even for a ball, butterfly or lightning bug. Love to see him running free and to be able to play fetch in the yard. Extremely happy with this system.

This wireless fence has been a lifesaver for my husky. There was no way he could be left outside before, and now he’s out all day and we don’t have to worry. Just a couple minor complaints:- Near the beginning of use, it seemed as if the boundaries fluctuated frequently. He would go near the outskirts and get shocked, even though he hadn’t the day before. Over time it seemed to be more consistent, which is strange, so I’m not sure what it was about.- I purchased the unit on August 28, 2013 and I’ve already had to replace the receiver collar. It started losing it’s charge daily near the end of December, and now even when charged it doesn’t shock. That’s just 16 months of use before the collar stopped working, and I’m kind of disappointed about that considering how much the unit and extra receivers are.
