Product works fine, but good luck redeeming the subscription.
The buttons and the app work as advertised, but the subscription is supposed to be redeemed and activated by pairing the buttons to the app. But if there’s any issues with the subscription being applied to your account good luck getting Arlo support to do anything. I’m still working with them to try and get what I paid for but it seems like they frequently don’t read the notes and info already on the support request and make irrelevant statements or requests in their follow-up messages. Furthermore I’m supposed to have access to phone support but that option is disabled in the app, and if I call the number that was previously provided I am immediately hung up on regardless of the day or time, with no message or information on why.

This product is amazing
First off, some of you that are writing bad reviews need your head examined.Yes, the device needs to be in proximity to your phone because that’s how it calls for help and updates your location. Just like every other device you use daily, it needs to be in proximity of the network/Bluetooth source. Just like your earbuds, or your wireless keyboard..I’ve had this product for over a year now. The button stays on a carabineer which is clipped to my belt or backpack at all times. The white color has been worn off, but the device works perfectly and has not broken or come apart. I am a paramedic so to say that this product has been exposed to the elements is an understatement.I’ve never had to use it in an emergency, but I know it works like it is supposed to because on one occasion, I shoved my key chain in my pocket to carry some items. When I did the button was depressed by a pen in my pocket (could not do it again if I tried). Immediately (less than 45 seconds) I received a call from a monitoring center. I did not know the number or have it saved so I did not answer but I immediately got a phone call right after that from my mother who was on my emergency contact list. She asked if I was okay because Arlo had called her stating that I had depressed my button and was not answering my phone. All of this took place and under a minute! And when I looked at my phone there was a text message also from the agent who asked if I was okay and when I did not answer she said “well since you’re not answering you may need help so we’re going to send you help it’s going to be okay I will be here”.That moment gave me the comfort I needed knowing that if I ever do have an emergency, someone will be on the way.On a second occasion, my key chain was on my center console because I just left the carwash. I have to cross the highway to turn into my neighborhood. When I did, I gunned it. My keychain slid off and down to the hard plastic near my floor mats. Apparently that was enough force because, again, I immediately got a call from the monitoring center. He asked if I was okay and said that it appeared that I had been in an accident because of a rapid deceleration and asked if I needed a tow truck or an ambulance. I assured him that I was not entered and had to not had a wreck it was my key fob he asked several more times just to make sure but then canceled the emergency alert and told me to call back if I did need anything.I can agree that the set up can be a pain in the @$$, and I had to escalate the issue to get my years subscription, but I did get it. Set aside an hour or so to completely set up the app and options. The piece of mind it gives you, knowing that there is always someone that knows where you are, and is a click away, is priceless. On a personal note. Being a Paramedic, I have actually responded to several calls in my career where our call taker was speaking with one of the Arlo agents who had dispatched us for a button activation. They gave us the exact location, vehicle info, and medical history before we go on scene. You can also set up alerts for when the people who have them either leave or arrive at a set up location. There is also live tracking, and detailed daily history. I do recommend that when ever you change the battery, that you completely remove the device from your paired list, and reset it when you put new battery in. It is just easier to pair again like that.

Longtime Arlo user- this is a total miss for so many reasons.
The concept is nice but the implementation is severely lacking. I’m a longtime Arlo user and pretty tech savvy so I was really hoping this would be better and great device to take on dog walks in case of emergency. Honestly? The whole thing is just kind of dumb and redundant. The not so good list is going to probably be a lot longer because it definitely overshadows everything else. The good:- Small form factor- Sleek Arlo app- Could be useful in the right situations/circumstances- Crash detection feature you can enable- Within the app there is an option to call for medical, fire, or police services. I am really not sure if these are called when you push the safety button as there is no way to set that up.The not so good:- If you’re already an Arlo user (e.g. cameras), this does not use the same app. You can use the same account but have to download a separate app which I thought was dumb.- You MUST have your phone in proximity to the button devices in order to work. This makes no sense because the Arlo app itself has the same features built in (and, depending on your version of iPhone you are using, you already have some of these features baked into the operating system so don’t need this service at all if set up correctly)- For a product that claims to value privacy with their “Privacy Pledge,” this device asks for a lot of invasive permissions. Yes, I get that you need to enable location- that makes sense. However, when adding emergency/safety contacts, it REQUIRES that you allow access to ALL contacts which seems entirely unnecessary. You cannot enter these manually. My husband and I wondered if we had someone’s name listed in our phones as “Dude Bro” or some similar silly name if they might get a call looking for “Dude Bro from Arlo. ” We were half kidding…- The crash detection feature is nice. However, this requires even more permissions to be granted that really are not broken down very well. I get that it needs access to motion but what it requested seemed a bit overly broad.- Set up overall is a little tedious. I didn’t need to create an account but my husband did. He almost stopped multiple times in the process because he was getting annoyed with everything it was asking for.- There is no way to label the two different key fobs/buttons. It would’ve been nice for Arlo to include different color clips, key rings or SOMETHING to be able to distinguish the devices. I mixed them up multiple times during set up until I finally took a marker to one and labeled it.- Even if you use the “walk with me” mode where you push the button and hold it until you are safe, it seems to trigger an alert to your contacts. One of our friends was wondering what the heck was going on when we were just testing it.- You only have the option of adding 2 safety contacts. I get that you don’t want to spam your whole address book but 2 seems overly restrictive, especially if this is being used for families.- The product is supposed to come with a 1 year subscription. There is no indication in my account that I am subscribed for a year- I only have a banner that says a 30 day trial is in effect. If I go into my subscription settings it only says what plan I’m on, nothing about when it expires.- The buttons themselves are not overly difficult to push nor are they well protected on the device. If you tossed this in a purse or a tight pocket, I would have concerns that it could accidentally be triggered.- The buttons have no light or sound indicators that I was able to observe. This seems like a missed opportunity. What about different lights for the different modes? Different alerts that can be set? I get that some of the appeal of this is how discreet it is but I really just don’t get the purpose of the buttons.Overall, this device just misses the boat completely. The app alone has features that may be useful and since every needs to have a phone anyway, there is no sense in the buttons but I also not convinced the app features are worth the price of the subscription either when a lot of newer mobile devices already have them built in.

Arlo Safe Family Bundle – Not Perfect, but Useful
While the concept is great, there were some issues I encountered.Pros:The Safe Button Accessories are easy to use and offer a quick way for my parents to alert me or emergency services if needed. The 1-Year Safe Family Plan offers a variety of useful features, including location tracking and emergency response. The bundle comes with two Safe Button Accessories, which is helpful if one is lost or needs to be charged.Cons:Setting up the devices and the Safe Family Plan can be a bit complicated, and the instructions could be clearer. The Safe Button Accessories are a bit bulky and might not be comfortable for everyone to carry around. The location tracking feature can be inaccurate at times, which could cause unnecessary worry or confusion.Overall, the Arlo Safe Family Bundle has some useful features and can offer peace of mind, but it’s not perfect and there are some drawbacks to consider.
