Borderline useless since Arlo shrunk their size
I’ve had Arlo cameras for a LONG time. Started with the Pro2’s and upgraded to the Pro4’s several years ago. I have 10 cameras and half were powered by Arlo solar panels. The panels performed well for the most part and I had no complaints.Recently, I started upgrading my Pro4 cameras to the Essential XL cameras for the better battery life and the ability to avoid using a hub. The cameras work great. I replaced my older Arlo solar panels with the new version for the Essenital XL 2ndgen cameras as they have different charging interfaces. The new panels are a bit cheaper, but it looks like they have, at most, 60% of the solar cell area of the old panels. They are much smaller. Smaller area means less charge capability, but I figured Arlo knew what they were doing. Turns out, they didn’t. These panels are horrible. They don’t put out enough power (in full sun) to keep the cameras from draining let alone actually put a positive charge on them. I hooked the panels up with one camera at 84%. After two weeks in the sun with minimal camera use, the charge is sitting at 86%. Barely moved when I figured it would have topped the camera off completely. The other camera actually lost charge by 8% over the two weeks with the panel in full sun.I have no idea why Arlo chose to shrink the size of the panels, but they are useless for the most part now. I bought a non-Arlo replacement and they are working great charging both cameras up to 100% in just a day or two.

  3. Need to follow delivery request packages get stolen in front due to apartment living and school in front and behind my house

They work great and look good too
Keeps me from having to charge them in summer for sure

    Game changer for battery life
I like having my Arlo cameras at the “best quality” image setting, night vision, and highest capture. Because of that, I can run a battery down in a matter of days. I would put solar panels on all my Arlo cameras if I could! This one was an easy setup, and fills the battery day- even in some of our more bitter cold (Nebraska in January), it has managed to continue to work.

    Completely Useless Solar Panel!!!
I normally don’t like to write negative reviews, but I have to say something about this product. I bought this solar panel to charge the new 2nd Generation Arlo Essential Outdoor Camera. I thought since this panel is made specifically for the new 2nd Gen Arlo, it should be problem free. I was wrong, this tiny solar panel (about the size of a large wallet) only output 1.2w. It simply cannot charge the power hungry Arlo Essential XL Outdoor camera (2 Gen). Did Arlo’s engineers tested this panel before releasing it to the public?? Who made this? I turned off the camera and let it charge a whole day in the sun and the camera’s battery will not even increase by one percent! Complete waste of money!!

    solar panel
keeps the camera charged, but you have to find a really good angle toward the sun a little trial and error

    Love these
Before I had these solar panels I , to take down by climbing a ladder every 2 weeks. I’m 70and we have 5 camera so that’s up and down a ladder 10 times. I’m not very steady on a ladder any more. The panels have kept my camera charger .

    Useless
I have four solar panels for the 1st gen Essential cameras and they have always kept the charge topped up regardless of how much the cameras were used. The 2nd gen panel is worthless, the camera battery drains even though we’ve had several weeks of sunny days recently. It is much smaller than the 1st gen, so if size matters in solar then they really screwed this up.At first I was annoyed at how much cheaper it was than the 1st gen solar panels, and it was part of the reason I didn’t seek out a used 1st gen camera when I needed another one, even though the new cameras don’t work with HomeKit. Now I realize it’s very much a you get what you pay for thing.

Te mantiene perfectamente la batería con poco tiempo al sol. Si está muy descargada le cuesta bastantes horas subir al 100% porque no está pensada para hacer eso. Perfecto

  10. David C.

Very slow to charge camera even though solar panel is in full sun

  11. Dominique D
